Innovative Home Manufacturer Locates in Walterboro

February 01, 2018

Jenshau LLC, a manufacturer of mini-modular homes located in Walterboro, South Carolina, held their grand opening in the first quarter of 2017. Located just off I-95 at Exit 62 at 3274 McLeod Road, the company crafts tiny homes, offices and custom living spaces from new heavy-duty shipping containers like those used to transport goods around the world.

The 450 square-foot units are virtually indestructible, making them an excellent choice for not only small homes, but also coastal retreats, lakeside homes, hunting lodges, emergency relief shelters, military housing, shipboard/pierside data centers, communications equipment shelters, and a variety of innovative housing and shelter utilizations.

The company already employs more than half a dozen skilled carpenters, welders, electricians and craftsmen and plans to grow the workforce to more than 30 employees as business growth allows.

According to owner Sonny Miles, “Jenshau has invested not only in the future of Walterboro, but in the future of South Carolina.”

Jenshau is an SC licensed modular building manufacturer building homes that are affordable, cost-efficient, durable and low maintenance. In fact, when installed with the proper foundation, the modular homes will withstand winds up to 150 miles per hour.

“We intend to make a difference in our state with safe, affordable alternative housing options,” said Miles, whose team has 100 years of experience in the modular home industry.

These innovative single-family dwellings can include a spacious bedroom, kitchen, living area, laundry room and bathroom. Unlike many of the “tiny homes” now trending around the country, the Jenshau mini-modular home’s design allows for a bedroom large enough for a queen size bed and room to walk around. The kitchen allows for a full-size refrigerator, a built-in microwave over a small four-burner range, and sufficient counter space; the units can be equipped with granite countertops and other upgrades. The living area will accommodate a full-size couch, and the bathroom accommodates a 48”-wide shower, elongated toilet and space for a full-size washer and dryer.

The eco-friendly homes come with an energy efficient 1.5-ton heat and air system, requires public sewer or septic tank and will be pre-wired for satellite and 200 AMP electrical service.

The company has invested approximately $2 million in their manufacturing facility and compound, where their impressive 2,500 square-foot corporate office is also comprised of shipping containers now housing a spacious conference room, offices, and other facilities.
