L3 Kigre Hosts Community Give-Back Day
May 01, 2019
(Hilton Head Island, SC - May 1st, 2019) L3 Kigre, a laser manufacturer located on Hilton Head Island, participated in L3 Technologies’ Give-Back Day. Since L3 Kigre’s products support US military efforts, the Kigre team used this great opportunity to show their support to the community by partnering with the American Legion Post 42 of Hilton Head Island. At least 40 employees arrived at Mr. Perry White’s home and spent the day taking on many tasks he has been unable to do in recent months including yard work and general house maintenance. Mr. White is a native islander and a Vietnam War veteran who had recently suffered a stroke.
The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime Veterans organization. Its mission is devoted to mutual helpfulness; helping veterans and their families during times of need, committed to mentoring youth, sponsoring wholesome programs in our communities and advocating patriotism and honor.
“I am grateful to work for a wonderful company that shares a culture of giving and serving the communities where we do business. Kigre, now a division of L3 Technologies, was privately held until December 2017,” said Linda Peterson who organized the community giveback event for Kigre.
“L3 Kigre is joining our company teammates around the world in giving back to our local communities on May 1st, which is the day that L3 was founded,” echoed Jamie Mannor, General Manager of L3 Kigre. “We are excited that 90% of our employees have volunteered to participate today to help a military veteran, Mr. White.”
The event was well attended by members of the American Legion Post 42 who were there to support their fellow veteran. Mr. Irvin Campbell, the Commander of the Post kicked off the event with the Pledge of Allegiance and thanked everyone present for honoring our veterans.
The Beaufort County EDC (Economic Development Commission) has been a great resource and support to L3 since their purchase of Kigre, which established its presence in the low country. “We hope by getting more involved in the community, we are also helping Beaufort County become a better place for industry” said Jamie. “Beaufort County is a great place for business and our employees enjoy being in the community.”
“Kigre is a business leader and we support our EDC in their economic development initiatives necessary to support a healthy, emergent economy,” said Linda who credits the EDC for contributing positively towards Beaufort County’s economic growth.
