Mayzo Opens Facility, Creating Jobs in Walterboro

December 17, 2019

Mayzo Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of a major commercial building at 1950 Industrial Road in Walterboro, South Carolina. Spanning over 61,000 square feet, the “Mayzo Operations Center” will house the Company’s Supply Chain Operations department, its laboratory for Research & Development and Quality Control, and a large warehouse.  Mayzo’s expansion into Walterboro will enable new strategies for value-added processing of specialty chemical additive products.

Todd Simms is relocating from the company’s headquarters in Suwanee GA to assume responsibility for overall management as Director of the Mayzo Operations Center.

Todd stated, “We chose the location in Walterboro after more than one year of searching. Given the proximity to the Charleston and Savannah ports, the access to major shipping routes, the local employee talent, and the resources available in Colleton County, we feel it is the perfect place for our primary operations center”.

On a personal note, Todd added, “My wife Wendy and I look forward to becoming a part of the Walterboro/Colleton County community.”

The real estate purchase, along with building upgrades and equipment, represents a multi-million dollar investment in Colleton County.

“Colleton County Council welcomes Mayzo to our industrial community, and we appreciate their investment in Walterboro,” said Colleton County Council Chairman Dr. Joe Flowers.  “We will continue to strive to create the best pro-business conditions in our county to attract companies like Mayzo.”

“Mayzo’s investment in Colleton County is great news for our area,” said Colleton County Economic Alliance Chairman Lee Petrolawicz.  “Industry is the backbone of our community, and every job created here provides a better future for a family.”

“SouthernCarolina Alliance congratulates Mayzo and Colleton County on this announcement of new jobs and investment,” said SCA Chairman Marty Sauls.  “We look forward to assisting the company in any way that we can to help them grow their operations in our region.”

Mayzo has begun recruiting for key positions at the new Operations Center, which will open for business on January 1, 2020.  Over the next five years, the Company expects to employ up to 20 individuals at the local Walterboro facility.

Job seekers have a chance to get in on the ground floor of this exciting venture, as Mayzo expands services to their customers.  Initial job opportunities include Demand Planner, Quality Lab Manager, Warehouse Team Leader, and Warehouse Team Members.  Full job postings may be viewed at http://southerncarolina.org/jobs.
