Collum’s Lumber Products, LLC, a producer of dimensional lumber and other wood products, will expand their manufacturing operations in Allendale, South Carolina, investing $2 million and creating 10 new jobs at a new warehousing facility on the campus of their state-of-the-art sawmill operation where they currently employ 236.

“We are pleased to be able to expand our company’s operations here in Allendale to better serve our current and future customers,” said Micky Scott, President of Collum’s Lumber Products.  “Innovation is key to our success in offering the best quality product at competitive prices, and the new warehouse operation will allow us to operate at peak efficiency.”

“In South Carolina, not only do we excel at making things, we’ve also built a reputation as a state that has the infrastructure in place to get finished products to customers as efficiently as possible. Companies from all over the world trust our state and our people, and today’s announcement by Collum’s Lumber Products is just the latest example of that,” said South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster.

“Today, we celebrate yet another win for South Carolina’s dynamic agribusiness and forestry industries,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “I offer my congratulations to Collum’s Lumber Products and look forward to seeing this family-owned business have continued success in the Palmetto State for years to come.”

A fourth-generation family owned business founded in the 1930s, the business has grown to be a leading competitor in the Southeastern Southern Yellow Pine lumber market. Collum’s Lumber Products, LLC, has expanded over the years to include one of the most modern sawmills and planer operations in the Southeast. Along with the dimensional lumber, the company now produces treated wood, poles, wood chips, biomass, and remanufactured components.

According to Scott, the local workforce has been a critical component in the company’s success in Allendale.

“Our location in Allendale not only puts our company at the center of the wood basket in our region, our company has flourished from the dedicated and loyal workforce here,” said Scott.  “Generations of families in the area have worked with four generations of our family here in Allendale, making this expansion possible.”

“Allendale County congratulates Collum’s Lumber Products on their success,” said Allendale County Council Chairman Bill Robinson. “They have been a major employer in our county for decades, providing both direct and indirect jobs to hundreds, creating opportunities for suppliers and support services as well as tax revenue to fund county services to our residents.”

“As a leader in the forest products sector in our region, the success of Collum’s Lumber Products continues to mean opportunity for hundreds of families in our area,” said SouthernCarolina Alliance Chairman Buddy Phillips. “We are appreciative of their investment in our workforce and our communities.”

Allendale County Economic Development Commission Chairwoman Barbara Lewis added, “Collum’s Lumber Products is not only a family-owned and operated company, it has been part of our industrial family and business community for generations, and we are proud that Allendale County is home to this progressive company.”

One of the most advanced sawmills in the South, Collum’s Lumber Products, LLC, optimizes to ensure efficiency and utilization of the resource. The mill is capable of an output up to 200 million board feet per year. There are currently five dry kilns on site and a state of the art planer facility that uses an autograder to ensure on-grade lumber.  Earlier this year, Collum’s Lumber Products also invested in a 924kW solar installation at their manufacturing site.

“The people of Allendale salute Collum’s Lumber Products for their investment and expansion, which will benefit not only their customers, but our local community,” said Mayor Ronnie Jackson of Allendale.  “Every job created changes the future for a family here, and that’s important in a rural community like ours.”
