December 13, 2021
HARDEEVILLE, SC (December 13, 2021) – North Point Development today announced the purchase of an 880-acre economic development site in Hardeeville that will accommodate up to 6M square feet of warehouse and industrial space. Phase I of the project represents $ 200M in capital investment and will generate more than 550 jobs at full buildout.
“We are grateful for the support of the City of Hardeeville, Jasper County and our continued partnership with the SouthernCarolina Regional Development Alliance to develop this exciting tract of land. The combination of a strong market, strong partnerships like these, along with great regional alliances with the Georgia Port Authority and SEDA we feel we can deliver a great project to the region,” said Mark Hall, Principal of North Point Development.
The South Atlantic Logistics Terminal site is strategically located along I-95 and I-17 with immediate access to entire Eastern Seaboard, as well as major metro areas including the Piedmont Atlantic MegaRegion (Charlotte, Atlanta) and the Florida MegaRegion (Tampa, Miami, and Orlando). The site is 15 minutes from the Port of Savannah.
“It is encouraging to see this type of investment that will play a pivotal role in attracting future investment in this corridor,” said Marty Sauls, Chairman of SouthernCarolina Regional Development Alliance. “Sites like this one will create more opportunity and bring high-quality jobs for the hard-working citizens of South Carolina. I am thankful to our allies at North Point Development as well as Jasper County and the City of Hardeeville for their partnership and support on this important project,” Sauls added.
“Jasper County welcomes North Point Development and their investment in our community. Every job they create through this development will provide a better future for a family in our region because we know that good economic development and education will pave the way to a better quality of life for all,” said Jasper County Council Chairwoman Barbara Clark. “We look forward to helping North Point bring the South Atlantic Logistics Terminal to fruition.”
“The South Atlantic Logistics Terminal will forever change the landscape of Highway 17 in Jasper County and Hardeeville. This critical corridor running parallel to I95 between Exit 5 and the new Exit 3 will be known as the road to success for hundreds of the region’s workforce who are looking to achieve a higher quality of life with good paying jobs heretofore unavailable in this part of the state. It will also be a valuable source of new funding for our schools who are looking to attract the best teachers in the state,” said Mayor Harry Williams of Hardeeville.
In addition to the strong connectivity, the location benefits from access to a skilled workforce of more than 400,000 within a 60-mile radius. The site will benefit from strong workforce development programs in the region including South Carolina’s renowned readySC worker training.
North Point is finalizing detailed planning for the site with groundbreaking anticipated in Q2 2022.
